The art, the flavors, the great characters of culture: every corner of Florence preserves memories and traditions.
Is it perhaps the combination of past and present that makes the City of Flowers so fascinating for those who visit it?
The Lodge is a contemporary place with a long history. The wood from the Bastione della Carbonaia, on the hill of San Miniato, was once delivered to Florence to be transformed into coal. In 1865, architect Poggi was hired to design the renovation of Florence, which officially became the capital of Italy, and created numerous architectural works, including the famous Viale dei Poggi, which leads to a terrace-belvedere, Piazzale Michelangelo. The street is dotted with chalets, one of which right at the Bastione: a roadman's house until the second post-war period, it was later transformed into a pizzeria. However, it was not re-born until 2021, when a skillful renovation by three entrepreneurs gave life to a restaurant modern in style, food, and wine proposals.
The Lodge can be summarized in one word, eclectic.
If its style respects the identity of the place, the furniture is reminiscent of different countries of the world, from Indonesia to Mexico, from France to Russia.
The restaurant has two souls: the Jungle, surrounded by greenery, offers tiki-style cocktails and South American street food, while the Club is the realm of fine dining where you can enjoy Nikkei cuisine, combining the flavors of Japan with ingredients from South America, especially Peru. The chef is Andrea Magnelli.
The restaurant uses only pure ingredients to guarantee an authentic culinary experience with an international flavor. Spices, colors, and aromas bring about emotions associated with distant lands.
A refined appetizer to start: Salmon 41 with salmon, beetroot, black quinoa, lime, and pickled vegetables in rice vinegar. The fish of the day dish has been re-worked. The fish is boneless and is served in a stew of prawns and mussels, eatable with a spoon; however, meat lovers will find meat options too, such as Angus beef. A much-loved dessert here is Choco Y Coco, a semi-cold chocolate bar served with passion fruit, coconut and almond crumble reduction.
The wine list supports the eclecticism of the menu, with a selection of high-quality international wines and fine labels from Friuli to Sicily. The unconventional dishes are accompanied with pure mineral water, rich in precious minerals, and appreciated by guests: San Benedetto Millennium Water – Antica Fonte della Salute.
The Lodge gives back to Florence a place loved by its citizens, creating an innovative venue that goes beyond entertainment and dining. It interacts with the community by hosting cultural events.
It is a perfect place for those who want to enjoy a breathtaking view of the city, letting themselves be amazed by an unusual aperitif and fascinating cuisine.
